A very early start for the pen ultimate social for the KZN Fishing 2010 calendar. Registration started at 5.30 am. KZN Fishing Administration members were kept busy distributing the new shirts and the caps. Many thanks to the generous contributions of various people that assisted in allowing us to sell the caps at a much reduced price. A special word of gratitude to our many advertisers on our shirts that has allowed KZN Fishing to benefit financially. After a briefing session at 5.55 am the lines in signal was given.
Fishing was very slow with the conditions being very difficult. Guys were after live baits as reports during the week showed that a few Garrick have been landed in the area. So soon as the live baits were caught the slides were out. Within a hour there were several rods out with live baits.
The members without live baits out continued with light tackle. Avesh managed with a good size Stoney followed by a few karateen. The rest of the morning progressed without any fireworks. Our youngest member, Emmanuel managed a good Stoney (20cm). It was fun watching Small Emmanuel with this fish on his line.
As the morning wore on, two Garricks were landed outside our boundaries by some local fishermen. About 11.40 am Joe has a run on his live bait just a few metres from the shore. However the Garrick spat out the bait. It shows that you really do not have to send your bait to Australia to catch Fish
A total of 10 fish landed amongst 30 Anglers. Lines were called out and most of the members stayed on for the Social Braai .
