1. All MCM Rules will apply during the events in both the League and Non League Events 2. Catch and Release is strongly Recommended but not enforced 3. No Gaffing of Fish Allowed. 4. Only two wet lines allowed at any time. The Angler is responsible to maintain his lines at all times and a official has the right to recall an angler to remove his line if it interferes with fishing of others. It is expected that the angler fishes with his second rod within a CONTROLLABLE distance from his other wet line. By this it is imperative that he must be able to control both his Rod’s. 5. A maximum of two hooks per trace are permitted. No treble hooks allowed 6. Fish will be measured and awarded points by means of weight points according to the SASAA conversion tables. A minimum size of 25cm will apply for edible points, however in-edibles have no minimum size limit for points. Points will be generated on the site and viewed on the Tuesday following the League Event. To promote the principles of conservation and the targeting of larger the fish the point system will be changed this year. There will be 4 categories of fish. In terms of edibles there will three categories. Each category is determined on its breeding and conservation variables. The forth category will be all your Inedibles. Copies of the categories will be available at the first social at a nominal cost. An example taking into account category 1 (common fish): If an angler catches a Blacktail of 23cm, converted to 0.3kg, converted to 0.6 points (edibles x2). If he is chooses to release that fish he gets an addition of 1 bonus point . His total therefore will be 1.6 points. If a guy catches a fish from category 2: eg bronze bream 23cm = 0.3kg converted to 0.6 points and then 1.0 bonus point for category 2 and if he releases, another 3 points = total 4.6 points If a guy catches a fish from category 3 --- eg brusher 23cm, =0.3kg converted to 0.6 points, and then 2.0 bonus points for category 3 and if he releases, another 5 points = total 7.6 points In the Inedible category the angler gets his normal weight with an additional release bonus of 2 points. ( Many thanks to Nat, Avesh and Nic for the hard work behind the scenes in getting the new scoring system in place.) Note any edibles not in class 1 or 2 will fall into class 3. The Final decision on any class distinction will rest with the Management of KZN Fishing. 7. An internal competition will be held for those fishing the league events. A angler must look at his strengths and choose a type of fish he wants to be judged on. He can only choose one category and cannot change it later in the year. The angler has 7 events to accomplish his target. ( 8 if he fishes the finals ). He needs to reach the combined weight of 35 kilograms if he chooses edible fish. His target for inedible will be 150 kgs. This internal competition is to encourage anglers to target bigger fish. The winner in either category will win a Torium 30. 8. There will be a penalty given to any angler leaving his/her fishing spot with litter. This will be adjudicated by the administrator of the league and their decision on this will be FINAL. 9. Measurement of fish will be witnessed by another KZN Angler that is the closest to you and signed off. All KZN anglers partaking in these events must have a tape measure in their possession. All fish releases to be indicated on the card with a capital R. It would be appropriate if photos could be taken for the website. 10.The areas to be fished will be posted on the site a week before the event. 11. Assistance can be given to an angler when tailing or landing a fish. Assistance during casting or bait preparation will be allowed. 13. All competitors must possess a valid fishing permit and bait license (if necessary), and will be required to present this during registration. 12. The league will consist of 7 League events over the course of the year. To compete in the finals in December an angler has to compete in a minimum of 5 of the 7 events. The Top 10 anglers will qualify for the Finals at the end of the year. 13. The Finals will be held somewhere along the KZN Coast. Prizes to be determined.
